Welcome to the new legal advice platform for UK armed forces service personnel, veterans and their families.
We believe service personnel, veterans and their families should receive high quality, independent legal advice whenever and wherever they need it. Veterans UK, run by the MoD, fails to provide this.

Our team is vastly experienced in all areas of military law including:
-
Accidents and death in service
-
AFCS claims, appeals and reconsiderations
-
Pension mis-selling
We also have long-standing relationships with the charities and organisations best placed to provide advice and support across all areas of life on Civvy Street.

I am proud to act as an ambassador for Veterans OK, the legal advice platform providing life-changing advice to service personnel, veterans and their families.

Life After Service Survey 2025
We surveyed over 1000 injured veterans. This is what they had to say:
-
Just 2% believe the UK is the best place in the world to be a veteran.
-
Just 3% believe veterans are sufficiently well supported on Civvy Street.
-
The majority (66%) of veterans would still recommend a career in the armed forces to others, underlining their selfless commitment to service.
-
85% believe there is still an element of shame and stigma within the armed forces over mental health issues.
-
82% believe the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, which provides serving and former service personnel injured as a result of service with compensation, is not fit for purpose.

Life After Service Survey 2025

Believe the UK is the best place in the world to be a veteran.

Believe veterans are sufficiently well supported on Civvy Street.

Would recommend a career in the armed forces to others.

Believe there is still an element of shame and stigma within the armed forces over mental health issues.

Say the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme is not fit for purpose.

Did you know...
Since 1987, UK Armed Forces service personnel and veterans have had the right to seek compensation from the MoD through civil claims for compensation if they have been injured as a result of the MoD's negligence. This is not the Armed Forces Compensation scheme, but a civil claim in the courts. The difference between the two can be millions of pounds - money our seriously injured troops need to fund their care, rehabilitate their injuries and restore some form of quality of life.
Veterans OK
Veterans OK can reveal that the MoD has blocked on-site access to independent legal advice for severely injured members of our armed forces.
To assist injured members of our armed forces, the Royal British Legion Solicitors Panel, previously ran a free ‘legal clinic’ for service personnel at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, known as ‘DMRC Stanford Hall’, which opened in 2018. Members of the Royal British Legion Solicitors Panel provided a regular drop-in service offering initial free legal advice and assistance, having previously provided the same service at the former rehabilitation centre, Headley Court, for decades.
This service has now been stopped by the MoD. We believe that the MoD has made a deliberate decision to deny injured troops at DMRC Stanford Hall access to independent legal advice.
In response to the MoD’s attempts to block access to justice, Veterans OK has launched a confidential online legal advice clinic for service personnel, veterans and their families worldwide.
